Lotus Pond is man-made lake and popular tourist destinationi in Zuoying District of Kaohsiung City . Opened in 1951, iti is distinguished for the lotus plants on the lake and the numerous temples around the lake, including the Spring & Autumn Pagodas , the Dragon Tiger Tower, and the Confucian Temple.

Banping Lake was a mining area between the 1910s to mid-1980s. It is a grit chamber that the cement companies dug to defend landslide. The limestone here is formed by coral reef. Wildfowl tend to fly to Banping Lake ofr a short break.
